Tremendous strength comes from diversity. Consider the Sun, the greatest force imaginable that sustains our world. When we gaze upon its rays, we see countless individual beams, seemingly separate entities. While they may appear to be separate or appear to be individual, their source is One. Individually their strength is minimal, however when they all come together at their source, the Sun is indeed the greatest force imaginable.
Coming together doesn’t mean giving up ones individuality. Rather when individuals with varying cultural, technical, and physical backgrounds come together in harmony they bring their unique attributes together. Then as a complimentary unit their strengths are amplified and weaknesses are mitigated. That is the beauty of coming together.
When you run a marathon — There may be 500, or 5,000, or 50,000 runners on the course with you. Everyone looks different. Everyone has a different background. You may not even speak the same language as the runner next to you; and you don’t even have to.
Everyone is running in the same direction towards the same objective.
That is why there is an overwhelmingly positive energy about such events. It is a time where diversity is at its finest and the raw goodness of humanity rises to the occasion. You cheer for and are cheered on by absolute strangers, not necessarily in words but it could be a simple gesture or fist bump.
